School can be a lot of fun, but just as often, there may be one or two subjects where you would like extra help. Everyone learns differently, and there are many helpful websites out there to provide support. There are even online games that can help you learn! All you have to do is figure out which subject you’d like to learn more about.

Math is a tricky subject for many kids. There are a lot of rules to remember, and as you learn more of them, it can be hard to remember which rule to use. One of the best ways to make math easier is to practice and memorize what your teacher asks you to. If you memorize your multiplication tables now, you’ll be able to do math much more easily next year.

Science can be another tricky subject, just because it covers so much! Harder science includes stuff like biology and chemistry, but right now, it’s important to learn the basic rules of science, like how to safely perform basic experiments. Not all experiments have to be done in class, though. You can ask your parents to help you perform experiments right at home, using what you’ve learned in school as a guide. Science is all about learning new and cool things that explain how the world works – so why be discouraged? Go discover!

Reading is a lot of fun, but it’s easy to get frustrated when you come across a word or idea that you don’t know. There are some very simple ways that you can become a better reader, though, and they’re very easy. One way is this: when you come across a word you don’t recognize, re-read the sentence that has the word in it. Teachers have a fancy name for this method, and they call it “using context clues”. What you will be doing, though, is just looking for the definition of the word that makes the most sense. It sounds weird here, but there are some links below where you can practice, and you’ll quickly see just how easy it really is!

Writing is a difficult subject for many kids. There are lots of grammar rules to remember, and not everyone can write as well as they’d like when they first put a pencil to paper. However, did you know that reading more will help you become a better writer? It’s true! When you read good books, you are teaching your brain to recognize what makes a good sentence.

Another subject that gives kids trouble is history. It can be boring if you’re just looking at facts all day, trying to remember who did what in the year 1492. There’s a secret to making it interesting, though. Want to know what it is? The secret to enjoying history is to think of it as a story! If your teacher tells you to memorize the fact that Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492, you may learn better by doing some research on Christopher Columbus, and the long, dangerous journey across the ocean that he had to take. History is wonderfully interesting – you just have to remember to look at it the right way.

Regardless of what subject you have trouble in – or even if you don’t have trouble with any subject – extra practice will help you learn more and do better in class. Remember, practice doesn’t have to be boring. There are plenty of ways to make it fun. The links below have a few ways to help get you started, but ultimately, it’s up to you to discover how you learn best and how you can have the most fun while you learn! Good luck!
