HostDime started out as purely a shared hosting provider using third-party servers in a New Jersey data center. In 2003 it opened its first privately owned and operated data center which paved the way to providing a more complete range of hosting solutions. A second data center was opened in 2005. During the subsequent years the company has grown substantially, and now hosts around 500,000 websites for customers around the world.
HostDime provides shared, VPS and dedicated server hosting, as well as reseller packages. The company offers a wide variety of hosting plans from simple shared hosting to scalable dedicated plans – and several options in between. It also offers domain name registration, website design and e-commerce solutions.
As many hosts do, HostDime has tried to distinguish itself by offering efficient technical support (available 24/7 by email), although recent reviews suggest that there may be some room for improvement still. However, it does offer a very useful 90 day money back guarantee, which gives a fair amount of time to assess its service.
HostDime is continually expanding in term of both its customer-base and its product range. The company’s aims for the future are to increase its market share by providing a cost effective, yet high quality, reliable service with good customer support.
Reviews of HostDime tend to be mixed. It has received some criticism for being slow to diagnose and repair systems problems. Others have commented on its recent move to outsource technical support and implementation of an email ticketing system, which some feel is too impersonal and inefficient. However, HostDime does have some very satisfied customers who feel the service is as good as it was before the changes.
