OC3 Networks has been in business since 1999 and is a privately owned company. The CEO is Jim Gurol.
Company and Services
OC3 Networks offers dedicated and collocation solutions, mainly to the business end of the market. It has its headquarters in Los Angeles, California.
The company has three dedicated server hosting packages: ‘Starter’, ‘Advanced’ and ‘Professional’. These can be either managed or unmanaged, and include free set-up and a free control panel, as well as coming with a substantial 1024MB of data storage. As OC3’s customers tend to have demanding hosting requirements, it provides a bespoke service which it claims ensures that its customers’ needs are fulfilled. The service includes personal guidance when choosing the appropriate server or servers.
The pricing for OC3 Networks’ dedicated plans are based on a monthly charge, so customers are not tied in to a fixed term contract, although there is a discount if you pre-pay for a year. Technical support is available 24/7 and can be reached by email, telephone and live chat.
As OC3 provides bespoke hosting solutions it is usually more expensive than mainstream budget providers, but then it is not offering a ‘one size fits all’ approach to hosting. With OC3, the company claims, you are paying for access to state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure backed up by professional expertise and support.
In 2006 OC3 Networks took over the US web hosting company Tear 2, LLC, which specializes in the online adult entertainment market.
Server Location
OC3 Networks and Web Solutions, LLC owns and operates all of its North American data centers. There are two based in Los Angeles and one in San Jose, California; one in Seattle, Washington, and one across the border in Vancouver, British Columbia.
