Six Apart is an established web hosting provider, although it undeniably best known its range of hugely popular blogging products – including TypePad, Movable Type and VOX. Chris Alden became Six Apart’s Chief Executive Officer in 2006. Founders Mena and Ben Trott are the Company’s President and Chief Technical Officer respectively.

Six Apart has its headquarters in San Francisco, California, with additional offices in New York, Paris and Tokyo. It employs more that 150 members of staff and hosts millions of websites – mainly blogs.
Six Apart provides solutions for everyone from individuals to large organizations and everything in between. Basic packages start with 2GB of bandwidth and a 100MG of storage and scale upwards to unlimited bandwidth and storage for huge websites.
Customer support is available seven days a week, 365 days a year via an email ticketing system. There is useful support/information database on the Six Apart and TypePad websites.
Six Apart has an impressive and diverse client list which ranges from Barack Obama, The Sierra Club and National Public Radio, to The Washington Post, Major League Baseball and the Huffington Post.
In November 2008 Six Apart announced that it was reducing its staff numbers by 9% in a bit to reduce costs following the economic downturn. Management has also taken a 15% pay cut. Six Apart says it still expects to grow in 2009 although it is likely that revenue from online advertising will be reduced.
