JustCloud Introduction
JustCloud is a cloud storage and backup solution for personal and business users.
Services and Specializations
JustCloud allows you to easily sync your files to the cloud and across multiple devices. Simply tell the installed software which folders to sync on your computer, and it will automatically check those files for updates and apply those updates to any other devices they are stored on, provided you’ve installed the appropriate software on all of your devices.
You can also share synced files or folders with your friends or family. This allows them to access those files online, view your photos, and even collaborate on documents.
A particularly nice features of JustCloud is the ability to adjust system resources and enable incremental backups. Syncing files can take up a lot of bandwidth, which can make it hard to stream music, watch Netflix, or even browse the Internet. Anything you can do to throttle this can make life a lot easier. This is a particularly important feature if you expect to be syncing large files, which can tie up your resources for a considerable amount of time.
JustCloud offers four storage plans, based on the amount of space you need. Their free plan is fairly limited; however, they also offer an unlimited plan, so you can backup all of your files in one location.
One important note: While you could set your entire computer to be backed up using the unlimited plan, this won’t create a full-functioning backup file that you could utilize to restore your system. JustCloud is designed to store your personal files, not restore your PC.

I have been a client of JustCloud for a number of years, paying over £200 a year. Recently I noticed that my files have not been backed up for sometime, although the application tells me that if it backed up daily. I contacted JustCloud on several occasions regarding this problem and they have not even replied.
Their customer services is non-existent. Beware as this could be very costly if your computer fails. Do not rely on their service.
Compatibility
JustCloud is compatible with Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu and Mint. Mobile apps are available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Windows Metro, and Kindle Fire.
Infrastructure
JustCloud files are stored on Google Cloud Storage servers, which provide multiple layers of redundancy, 99.9% or better uptimes, resumable uploads, and around the clock monitoring. Their servers use ultra-redundant power, HVAC, and networking systems; and for increased security Google does not publicly disclose their locations.
Support and Customer Service
Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Technical support is available via email. Billing support is available via email, chat, or phone.
Billing and Payment Policies
JustCloud accepts payment via Visa, MasterCard, American Express or PayPal. Accounts are automatically renewed at your chosen interval. As with most hosting plans, paying for 1-2 years of service up front can considerably reduce your total cost.
Conclusion
The cloud storage arena is becoming increasingly crowded, with the big players like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive, and smaller but increasingly popular players like SugarSync and Mozy. With so many options, it can be hard to decide which service is best for you.
If all you want is a good free cloud storage service, JustCloud is probably not your best option. The free plan includes significantly less storage space than free plans through most other cloud storage services. On the other hand, if you need more storage than the typical free service offers, JustCloud has more variety than its competitors and comparable prices.
If you’re looking to backup your entire computer, or you have a larger-than-normal collection of media files, JustCloud may be the perfect solution. While most storage services set a top limit of 1 TB per account, JustCloud offers unlimited storage for its premium plan, and the month-to-month cost is just slightly more than most other services are currently charging for their 1TB plans. If you’re willing to pay in advance, you can get unlimited storage for even less.
The setup offers a simple backup path, in which JustCloud will automatically sync all of your Pictures, Music, Videos, Documents, Downloads, and Desktop files. This is the recommended option, regardless of the plan you’re on. For non-technical users, this is the perfect interface. Unfortunately, unless you have the unlimited plan, you will likely run out of storage space long before it finished backing up all of your files.
For a personalized backup solution, you can also select which folders you want to sync. This is perfect for the more technically-inclined user who wants to keep their files in specific locations, rather than having to move everything to a specific OneDrive, Google, or Dropbox folder.
While JustCloud makes it much easier to limit resource usage than other cloud syncing services, it does not offer the same level of custom throttling that you get with Dropbox, where you can set specific upload and download limits.
One last area that may concern some users, is the maximum file size. With JustCloud, you can’t sync any files larger than 1 GB, unless you want to pay an additional monthly fee to raise that to 5 GB. By comparison, Dropbox and OneDrive both have 10 GB limits, and Google Drive will let you upload anything up to 5 TB.
There’s a lot to like about JustCloud, in particular the unlimited storage. However, if you don’t need that much space, there’s not much to make it stand above all the other services out there. When looking for the right cloud storage, the best thing to do is to try several. Sign up for a free plan, download the software, and put them to the test. Pick the storage service that you feel comfortable with. And don’t forget to take a Netflix break. Not only do you deserve it, but it’s a great way to test bandwidth consumption.

After using them with apparent success for several years, I have discovered that many files I had selected for backup were not backed up in their system. A great many of these files were within a folder named << Dropbox >> and several subfolders therein. I have even tried to Drag ‘n Drop files from somewhere inside the Dropbox folder and these never were uploaded, even though my local app reported the action was completed successfully.
JustCloud support continually evaded the question I asked if they rejected or refused files inside a Dropbox folder, (Dropbox, of course, is one of their competitors). I have my own reasons to want a double backup on some of these files, and that is none of their business, and I can’t see why they should reject files which might also be backed up on a competitor except to hassle their clients for not giving them all the business. The result of this deception is this kind of review and my effort to find a replacement for future services of this kind that definitely avoids JustCloud.
