Kualo Hosting Introduction
Kualo was founded in 2000 as a reseller hosting provider. Since then, it has diversified its service catalog to include plans at all levels of hosting. Today, it hosts around 30,000 websites for clients around the world.
It clearly focuses on attracting business users, and is keen to point out that it’s a serious provider with quality support and uptime. The company is headquartered in London, England, and it offers hosting on UK and US servers.
Services & Specializations
Kualo provides a range of hosting services for businesses. Its shared hosting plans are the focus of the site, and it has tiered price plans within this category. All are geared towards small businesses who have a small number of sites to host.
For more advanced users, Kualo’s cloud servers offer configurable specifications alongside improved uptime. Prices are for unmanaged hosting, but users can pay for part or full management alongside their cloud hosting plan. Cloud plans are more aligned with VPS hosting, and are suited to users who need more control than a shared plan can provide.
Kualo’s dedicated servers can also be purchased as standalone or managed services. When you choose your dedicated server, you’ll select from different CPU, RAM, hard drive and RAID combinations, but you can’t choose the brand or model of server, and you can’t customise the configuration.
Resellers can purchase a hosting service to suit
The company also offers domain name registration; some plans come with a free domain.
Across all plans, including cloud hosting, the cPanel control panel is available for an additional fee. The more expensive management packages include cPanel in the price; this will be clearly marked as you scroll through the options.

Data Center
In the UK, Kualo uses the Centro data center in Hemel Hempstead. The facility is located within a secure compound, and it offers N+1 redundancy, with diesel generators and UPS providing continuous power. The complex covers 50,000 sq ft and is served by CCTV, biometric security and man-traps. For energy efficiency, Centro has water cooling and hot air containment, which ensures warm air exits the building rather than warming the room. The whole facility is secured with high fences, blast proofed windows and VESDA/ FM200 fire detection and suppression, and is staffed 24/7 by security teams.

Its US servers are located in Tampa, Florida.
Support and Customer Service
Kualo’s support department is available 24/7/365 to answer queries from its users. Support requests must be filed through its ticketing system. If you don’t get a response within an hour, your account will be credited with £1 per ticket. This guarantee only applies to the technical support department, and is only valid to your maximum subscription amount. If you want to claim this credit, you must contact the accounts department directly.
While Kualo has a sales number and pre-sales live chat system, there is no telephone support line.
Backups
Kualo backs up every hosting account daily, weekly and monthly, but these backups are not available to users – they are simply to provide a contingency plan if there is a catastrophic problem with the server. As such, you must set up and manage your own backups using the Backup Manager tool.
Server monitoring is not provided as standard, but is included if you pay for server management.
There’s also a paid service, CodeGuard, that offers cloud-based backup, monitoring and file restoration. A separate service, SiteLock, scans your web hosting account daily for malware.
Uptime Guarantee
Kualo shared hosting packages are covered by a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which is up to 45 minutes in a single month. Affected users can claim a credit based on a sliding scale, with the amount of downtime determining the refund that can be claimed. The uptime guarantee is only applicable to unplanned maintenance, and credits cannot be withdrawn as a cash refund.
Billing and Payment
Most Kualo plans can be paid for monthly, although best pricing is sometimes reserved for customers who pre-pay over a longer period. On sign-up, you can choose to pay one month, one year, two years or three years in advance.
Kualo accepts payment via credit card, debit card or PayPal.

We are a local history society and Kualo have given us free charity website hosting.
