SoftSys is a US-based hosting company with data centers around the globe. They have been in business since 2006, and specialize in shared and reseller hosting for Windows customers.
Services and Specialties
SoftSys offers a full selection of shared, VPS, and Dedicated hosting services, as well as reseller hosting plans. Plans are available for Windows and Linux.
Shared plans from SoftSys are only available for the Windows operating system — they do not provide typical Linux-based shared hosting. Windows Shared hosting is available in two different service levels.

VPS plans are available in a variety of configurations, with options covering operating system, use limits, power, data center location (US, UK, and Singapore), and hardware.
An interesting offering in the VPS services is a VPS plan geared for Forex (Foreign Exchange — that is, Currency Trading). These VPS plans are designed to support all the major Forex trading software, with the processing power needed to run complex algorithms and data chart visualizations. They are served from data centers with low latency connections to major world markets in the US (Chicago), UK, Amsterdam, and Singapore. These plans have an unmanaged option, but can also be used with SoftSys’s managed hosting plan, which provides daily backups, 24/7 monitoring, and assistance with upgrades and security matters.
SoftSys also offers dedicated server hosting, with options for conventional drives or SSDs and managed or unmanaged plans. Dedicated server customers have the ability to choose their datacenter location from ten cities around the world — Singapore, Hong Kong, Melbourne, London, Amsterdam, Toronto, Dallas, San Jose, Seattle, Houston, and Washington DC.
They also offer low cost “clearance” pricing on lower-powered, older equipment. These are individual items already at a specific data center. Not many options, but a great price.
Datacenters and Technology
SoftSys runs their own equipment out of colocated data centers in the US and abroad (that is, they own the servers and rent space in a larger building — this is a very common practice).
While Dedicated server customers can house their equipment in one of ten datacenters globally, VPS customers are limited to one of four choices — two in the US, one in the UK, and one in Singapore. Forex server customers also have the option to host in Amsterdam.
Datacenters have redundant power and backup systems, multiple connections to internet trunk lines, and high-end fire suppression systems. They are all monitored 24/7 and have onsite guards.
VPS plans run on Enterprise SuperMicro Servers with dual Intel/AMD processors and ECC REG DDR3/DDR4 RAM. Dedicated servers use Intel Xeon processors.
Support and Customer Service
SoftSys has 24/7 support via email. They promise 30-minutes or less to a response, and will work to resolve issues as quickly as possible at any time of day.
While they offer technical support to resolve issues or problems of any kind, they will not walk beginners through basic setup issues, especially on low-end plans. If you need special treatment and guidance above and beyond occasional issue resolution, they have managed hosting plans available.
Security and Backups

SoftSys plans are backed by a 99.9%, subject to the following restrictions:
The remedy for any downtime exceeding 0.1% (about 43 minutes in one month) is account credit for that month’s fees.
Money Back Guarantee
Most hosting companies provide a money-back guarantee of some type, and SoftSys does as well. It should be noted that SoftSys’s guarantee period is shorter than most. Any requests for cancellation and refund must be made within 15 days of ordering.
Requests for refund made after 15 days has expired will not be honored.
Costs and Payment Policies
Shared hosting plans are above average in cost compared with conventional Linux-based shared hosting plans, but SoftSys provides Windows on their shared hosting plans. Compared with other Windows plans, this is a good deal. (There are relatively few hosting companies offering Windows on shared plans.)
VPS and Dedicated server plans are on the low end of average — not an amazing discount, but very decent for the type of service and support being offered.
SoftSys takes all major credit cards, as well as Paypal. Plans are month-to-month by default, but a small discount is available for anyone purchasing a year of hosting at a time.
Summary / Conclusions
SoftSys is a decent hosting company. They are not an extremely high quality provider, but they are not a bad host to work with either.
One place where they are a really great fit is for student developers who need a Windows hosting environment for .NET and other Microsoft-related projects. Windows-based development is most often associated with large enterprise projects, so there aren’t a lot of shared hosting options for it.
Another uniquely good fit for SoftSys is Forex traders and other finance related businesses who need specialized rigs at key points around the globe. SoftSys can provide dedicated servers in ten cities, including several that are near major market centers.
