Surftown only offers two ranges of shared hosting, one geared toward Personal blogs and other very small websites, and one intended for small to medium sized businesses. Each range of shared hosting options has multiple tiers defined by usage limits and available options.

Datacenter

Surftown’s data center is in Denmark, which provides close proximity to Scandinavia and Northern Europe. It also has much lower cooling costs than data centers in most of the US.

Support and Service

Support is available via phone, ticket, email, or live chat. However, support is not provided on a 24/7 basis, but only during business hours and a short period on the weekends. Shared hosting customers need to pay extra for phone support.

Surftown also offers a VIP support option for an additional fee.

Support staff will greet you in either Danish or Swedish, but they are fluent in English and will gladly help you overcome any language barriers if you need it.

Surftown maintains secure data centers and manages network security, but customers are responsible for their own security and backups.

Uptime Guarantees

All of Surftown plans carry a 99.9% uptime guarantee. This is subject to the usual exclusions:

• Surftown is not responsible for downtime caused by customer activity or negligence
• Surftown is not responsible for downtime caused by third-party providers
• scheduled maintenance does not count against downtime

Any month in which downtime exceeds 0.1% (about 43 minutes), customers are eligible for an account credit for hosting fees during that month.

Costs and Payment Policies

Low-end shared hosting plans are less expensive than typical “unlimited” plans from name-brand discount hosting companies in the US and UK, but the Professional level plans are a bit above average for shared plans.

Payment is accepted in Danish Krone (DKK), Swedish Krona (SEK), or Euros (EUR). All major credit cards are accepted.

Advertised rates are half-price starter rates. If you are trying to plan a hosting budget, keep in mind that hosting rates will double after a year.
