Review: Are We Up? App For iPhone

Up until now, site monitoring apps have been few and far between.

Pingdom and Are My Sites Up? both offer native apps for the iPhone which work very well.

Priced at $4.99, the Are We Up? app is more expensive than its competitors, but Are We Up? comes with something the others don’t: free monitoring for one URL.

Features

Users can upgrade to monitor additional URLs for $4.99, but the app only monitors one by default.

It can be set to check at 20, 10 or 5 minute intervals – not as good as Pingdom.

But we really liked the alerts. The service can notify you of downtime via email, text message or phone call. All of these services are provided for free in the US.

There are no push messages, though, but the app does what it is supposed to do.

Our Verdict

Though it isn’t the cheapest, $4.99 for free monitoring for the life of the app is a pretty good deal. It’s basic, but it gets the job done.Keep up with posts like this by subscribing to our RSS feed, or following @WhoIsHosting on Twitter.
