Baltic Servers Introduction
Baltic Servers was founded in Lithuania in April of 2001. Excellent customer service, premium hosting products, and environmental responsibility are the core values that have propelled the company from its humble beginnings to its current status as one of the leading hosting providers in central Europe.
Rather than focus on the large low-cost shared hosting market, Baltic Servers specializes in powerful and premium hosting products built on private servers located in Baltic Servers DC1 — the company’s wholly-owned datacenter — and backed by swift and knowledgeable customer support.
Services and Specializations
If you’re looking for a simple shared hosting plan to set up a handful of low-traffic websites, Baltic Servers is not the provider you’re looking for. However, if you’re looking for highly configurable, powerful, premium hosting products built on servers based in central Europe, read on.
Baltic Servers offers two different types of private hosting environments: dedicated servers and smart servers.
Dedicated servers are the most powerful product available and server configurations vary based on CPU processing power, RAM, and disk space. All dedicated servers are fully configurable with upgradeable RAM and hard disk options available. Dedicated server customers can select between various Linux and Windows operating systems.
Dedicated server customers who need increased graphics processing power can also add GPU cards to their configurable servers. Customers hosting demanding applications such as medical imaging, filmmaking, animation, and engineering analysis will see the most benefit from adding a GPU card.
Smart servers are a hybrid server configuration similar in concept to a virtual private server (VPS). However, unlike VPS plans, smart servers include physical allocations of server hardware components and not just virtual allocation of server resources. Smart servers can be configured with a variety of CPU, RAM, and hard disk options, and a variety of add-on features such as premium support and dedicated IP addresses are also available.
A dedicated server or a smart server is the ideal choice if you need to host a very large website or a demanding application. However, if you’re looking for an environment designed to host multiple small-to-medium size websites or web applications, a professional hosting plan might be better aligned with your needs. These plans, built on either a dedicated or smart server, include industry-standard tools like CloudLinux and cPanel. Professional hosting plans can also be used by hosting resellers who want to resell shared hosting plans.
Lastly, customers who prefer to use their own equipment can colocate their servers at BalticServer DC1 and take advantage of its central European location with world-class network infrastructure.
Infrastructure
Baltic Servers owns and directly manages a 4,000+ square foot datacenter in the country of Lithuania in central Europe called Baltic Servers DC1. The datacenter has a total capacity of more than 2,000 servers and has been expanded multiple times as the company has grown. The datacenter is secured 24/7 by on-site security personnel who monitor the limited-access facility using closed circuit video. In addition, fully redundant power and cooling supplies are in place in the event of a power failure.
Uptime Guarantee
99.9% network uptime is guaranteed. The Terms of Service state that customers may request account credit if this uptime guarantee is not met. However, no formula for calculating the account credit is provided. Requests for account credit are considered on a case-by-case basis and the credit provided will never exceed the cost of one month of service.
Support and Customer Service
Baltic Servers emphasizes the speed and quality of their customer support. Three different levels of support are offered. The basic level of support is offered to all customers and includes guarantees such as ticket response time within 4 hours and live technical support within 5 minutes. Premium support customers can expect ticket response times as fast as 15 minutes and technical live support within 1 minute.
Support is available 24/7, and every customer is assigned a personal account manager who has overall responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction.
Billing and Payment Policies
Pricing is offered in US Dollars, Euros, British Pounds, and Bitcoin. Virtually all forms of payment are accepted including PayPal, bitcoin, Skrill, all major credit cards, direct wire transfer, and many additional forms. Billing cycles vary in length from one week up to one year. Discounts are offered to customers who prepay for an extended billing cycle.
A 30-day money-back guarantee is offered to Smart Server and Professional Hosting customers. This no-questions policy excludes certain non-refundable fees such as domain name registration fees and does not apply to dedicated server customers.
Summary
Baltic Servers isn’t the right host for everyone — especially customers looking for entry-level low-cost shared hosting. However, customers who want powerful hosting products built on private servers located in central Europe will find Baltic Servers to be a very compelling option.
