Important Update 2018: EvoHost has been merged into Tsohost
Evohosting Introduction
Evohosting is a UK-based web hosting service, owned by Daily Internet Services Limited. They have been in business since 2004.
Services and Specializations
When they opened, Evohosting made a commitment to provide great uptimes and excellent customer support. In recent years, they added speed to that mix, and now they strive to maintain enterprise-level hardware and software to maximize their server speeds and prevent downtimes.
They offer a variety of shared hosting plans, from inexpensive starter packages to Ecommerce and Enterprise packages, so it’s easy to find a package that fits your needs. Additionally, if you choose a package and then outgrow it, they have a handy upgrade/downgrade quote request form on their website. Plans vary mainly on the allotted disk space, bandwidth, databases, and email accounts.
Most other features are present for all plans, including over 300 one-click installation scripts, a cPanel control panel, a free domain, and support for the latest versions of PHP, MySQL, etc. The Ecommerce and Enterprise packages also include a free SSL certificate.
While their shared hosting plans promise the best resources and superfast performance, they do come with some limitations. Their terms and conditions state that no shared hosting package can use more than 10% of any system resource for more than 90 seconds. Clients who exceed this may be asked to move to a Virtual Private Server or their site may be taken offline without prior notice.

Been with EvoHosting from the start, always good service, uptime, any problems were usually picked up prior to you noticing them. Now with Paragon, service tickets are slow, servers have slowed, features have been removed from CPanel (being able to manage SSL) which is a big deal for me, I am now in the process of getting my SSL re-issued, rather than being able to handle it myself I have to jump backwards and forwards with support tickets. I am looking for a new host.

However good a company is at one aspect of their business its no good if they are terrible at others. I initially paid my annual hosting bill 2 weeks in advance but kept getting reminders. They refused to answer the [email protected]evohosting emails I sent to the email address that they told me to use on the reminders and then the live chat took for ages when they said I was down to use paypal though I had previously paid by BACs.
This palavar went on for 30 mins and still wasnt resolved as they seemed unable to check and see if the payment had arrived in their account and eventually George on the other end of the chat just disappeared. So despite having paid in full on time they have wasted lots of my time because they really dont know what they are doing.
Infrastructure
Evohosting’s servers are located in the Pulsant data center in Maidenhead, Berkshire, one of the only data centers in the UK that is independent of London. Pulsant offers a fully redundant BGP network, two 10Gigabit networks, and two independent IP Transit networks. Evohosting’s servers are built on 2x Quad Xeon hardware with 48GB of RAM and solid state drives.
On the software side, they utilize the CloudLinux OS in order to provide increased speed and stability and optimize their shared hosting platform.
CloudLinux allows them to give every shared client their own Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE). The LVE provides a specified amount of CPU and RAM for each account, so you don’t have to worry about one person’s site consuming all of the server’s resources.
They also utilize LiteSpeed for their web server, which is capable of processing request up to 6 times faster than Apache.
Support and Customer Service
Evohosting offers a web-based help desk, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Tickets can be submitted through your online account; however, if you are having trouble accessing your account there is also a secondary contact form you can use.
Their terms and conditions promise impressive SLAs of just 2 hours for a response and resolution within 6 hours for 99.9% of cases. Additionally, emergency support requests (if your server goes down) will be responded to within 2 minutes.
Security and Backups
Evohosting provides automatic, daily backups to another server. These backups including all of your files, email, and databases, and are kept for 30 days. Like most hosts, their terms and condition state that they are not responsible for loss or damage to your content, so you shouldn’t rely solely on their automated backups.
It’s always a good idea to make your own backups, and store those on a separate system. In this case, doing so at least once a month would be ideal, just in case an issue is detected that goes back further than the 30 days they store.
Uptime Guarantee
Evohosting boasts a 99.5% uptime guarantee, and they back that claim with monthly uptime credits if they fail to deliver. If uptimes fall to 95-99.4%, you are eligible for a 25% discount for the month, 50% if they fall between 90-94.9%, and 100% if they drop below that.
However, these guarantees do not pertain to events such as power failures or other issues beyond Evohosting’s control, or to schedules downtimes.
Billing and Payment Policies
Evohosting offers a 14-day money back guarantee policy. During that time, you can cancel for whatever reason and receive a full refund, less the price of domain registration. In addition to your domain fees, some optional features are non-refundable, including account upgrades, SSL certificates, and installation charges.
All payments are due with 7 days of your invoice, or your account will be suspended. If payment is not received within 30 days, your account will be terminated and all data on your server will be deleted. Automatic payments are available, for those who don’t want to worry about it.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a fast, reliable, UK-based host that runs modern equipment and software, Evohosting might be the company for you. They promise some impressive up-times and SLAs, and (surprisingly) back those in their terms and conditions.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive, shared hosting plan, the LVE environment should be very appealing, because you’ll know exactly how much CPU and RAM you have available, without worrying about someone else on the server using up all the resources.

I was a great fan of evohosting in the past. Great support, great service. Then they got acquired by Paragon.
They decided to move from Litespeed to Apache, but didn’t inform their clients. This brought down a whole bunch of web sites, although they seemed to be blissfully unaware. They still record somewhat bizarrely that there had been no maintenance going on and there were no incidents.
Change control clearly is woeful, and there is no evidence that problem management kicked in. Who knows? Not their customers.
Tickets are not responded to promptly and the service desk, which has moved to Bulgaria, is woefully slow at answering the phone – typically it times out after about fifteen minutes of waiting. This has been the story of my hosting experience over the last twenty years. You find as good provider, they get taken over and service declines until you have no choice but to incur the expense of moving on.
