HostingXtreme, based in India, is a reseller of Linux shared hosting accounts. They offer a range of affordable plans suitable for hosting low to moderate traffic websites and PHP web applications such as WordPress and Joomla.

Services and Specializations

HostingXtreme offers shared Linux hosting plans which can be purchased in one of three configurations:

• Standard hosting plans
• WordPress hosting plans
• Reseller hosting plans

Three different resource allocation levels are available for the shared hosting plans. The basic plan is suitable for hosting a single low-traffic website. Upgraded plans can be used to host up to five websites and include unlimited storage, bandwidth, and MySQL database allocations.

All standard hosting plans include unlimited email accounts, cPanel, a free domain name for customers who prepay for at least one full year, and the Softaculous commercial script library for easy installation of applications like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal.

WordPress hosting plans are nearly identical to the standard shared hosting plans with the addition of automatic WordPress upgrades and automated website and database backups.

Reseller hosting accounts are sized and priced based on the storage space allocated to the account. Resellers are able to offer unlimited bandwidth and split the allocated storage space between an unlimited number of client accounts. In addition to cPanel, resellers also have access to WHM control panel for administration of client accounts.

Other add-on services offered by HostingXtreme include domain name registration, SSL certificates, and DMCA website protection plans.

Infrastructure

The HostingXtreme website does not provide any information about the hosting infrastructure. However, using our own hosting discovery tool we determined that the website is hosted on a SoftLayer server. If customer accounts are also hosted by servers located in SoftLayer datacenters, customers can rest assured that the servers are housed in worldclass datacenters.

Support and Customer Service

A ticketing system and knowledgebase are available. A phone number is also listed, but it is unclear if live phone support is available. In addition, no information is provided to indicate the typical response time customers can expect when submitting a support ticket. As a result, HostingXtreme customers will probably be most satisfied if they are capable of handling most of their own support needs.

Billing and Payment Policies

Accounts can be purchased in 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, and 36 month increments. Pricing incentives for some plans are offered to customers who select a plan that is 12 months or longer. All payments are processed by PayPal. Customers can pay using their PayPal account or by manually entering debit or credit card information which is processed by PayPal.

Payment can be made in US Dollars or Indian Rupees. International customers should not that the terms of service indicate that all disputes are to be arbitrated in Mumbai, India.

Money-Back Guarantee

While no money-back guarantee is advertised, a 45-day money back guarantee is described in the official terms of service. However, some fees, such as domain name registration fees, are non-refundable.

Summary

One area HostingXtreme could stand to improve is in the amount of detailed information available from their website. In particular, information about customer support policies, hosting infrastructure, and detailed technical information about the servers is lacking and may lead some customers to look elsewhere for their hosting needs.

HostingXtreme offers a very competitively priced entry-level shared Linux hosting plan. It would be hard, maybe even impossible, to find a lower-priced entry-level plan that isn’t saddled with mandatory advertisements and severe resource limitations. The rest of the the product catalog is adequate and consistent with other industry-leading hosting providers.
