FAQs
Most asked Questions about JavaPipe – answered!
JavaPipe Introduction
JavaPipe, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to providing high-performing hosting for Java websites and applications.
Services and Specializations
JavaPipe offers a range of Java hosting products, private servers, and DDoS protection services.
Cloud Hosting for Java Applications
JavaPipe’s most prominent product is Tomcat Cloud Hosting for Java applications and websites. It is designed to power Java websites and web applications ranging in size from very small to quite large thanks to the highly-scalable nature of this cloud-based product.
All Tomcat Cloud Hosting accounts include access to:
- A private Apache Tomcat container;
- SiteWorx control panel;
- Tomcat versions 6, 7, and 8 and Oracle Sun JDK versions 7 and 8;
- Dedicated Java Virtual Machine memory;
- Support for a wide variety of Java frameworks including the Spring, Hibernate, Struts, and many more;
- Scalable resources which can be adjusted to meet growing application and user bandwidth demands.
All JavaPipe Tomcat Cloud Hosting plans are built with SSD storage which offers faster data retrieval than traditional SATA storage disks.
Private Servers
Virtual private servers (VPS) and dedicated servers are available from JavaPipe for customers who want a private hosting environment, backed by a support team with Java expertise. All VPSs and dedicated servers vary based on the processing power, memory, disk space, and bandwidth allocated to the server. Windows and Linux operating systems are available.
Customers have the option to choose between SSD hard disks for the fastest possible performance and SATA disks for greater storage space. Private hosting environments are unmanaged by default, but server management can be added-on to any account.
All private hosting products include DDoS protection by JavaPipe and may be located in either Romania or New York, USA.
DDoS Protection
If Tomcat Cloud Hosting is JavaPipe’s flagship product, DDoS protection comes in a close second.
DDoS protection services are available to any JavaPipe hosting customer, included by default with all VPS and dedicated server plans, and are also available to customers with servers and websites hosted with other hosting providers.
JavaPipe DDoS protection is affordably priced and multi-faceted. It includes 7 layer filtering, a CDN, a web application firewall (WAF), and load balancing technologies to filter out DDoS attack traffic while simultaneously ensuring that the protected website or server continues to run smoothly. In addition, GRE tunneling, VPN tunneling, and NAT forwarding are all supported.
DDoS customers enjoy continuous 24/7 protection and have access to GuardPanel, a DDoS control panel, to manage the websites and servers protected by their DDoS protection account.
Additional Products and Services
JavaPipe also offers SSL certificates, dedicated IP addresses, and domain name registration services. VPSs and dedicated servers can also be used by hosting resellers, and DDoS protection reseller accounts are available.

JavaPipe has been my #1 choice for hosting my Spring MVC based website since 2007. If I need to contact their support (which happens rarely), they usually respond within literally minutes. Until to date I haven’t found a Tomcat hosting provider that can beat their service quality at such a low price. I tried other providers before, but most of them didn’t even allow private JVMs which made it impossible to run my MVC site.
Infrastructure
JavaPipe does not own a data center, but they do own the hardware on which their customers’ accounts are hosted. JavaPipe hardware is colocated at two state-of-the-art datacenters:
- Voxility in Bucharest, Romania;
- ColoCrossing in New York, USA.
Both of these data centers are equipped with redundant power and cooling supplies, staffed 24/7 by security personnel, accessible only through secured and manned entries, and staffed with on-site technical support personnel.
Uptime Guarantee
99.5% uptime is guaranteed to all customers who select a premium support package, dedicated server customers, and any customers who opt for fully-managed services. If uptime drops below 99.5% for reasons attributable to JavaPipe, an account credit in the amount of 25% of the monthly cost of the customer’s bill can be claimed. Compensation for downtime increases to 100% of a customer’s monthly bill when uptime drops below 95%.
Compensation for downtime cannot exceed 100% of a customer’s monthly hosting cost, and can only be applied to future hosting invoices.
Support and Customer Service
Support is available from JavaPipe 24/7 through an online helpdesk or email. JavaPipe offers all customers a guaranteed response time of 2 hours for initial response and resolution within 6 hours. Premium support packages include a reduction in the initial response time down to as little as 15 minutes.
Billing and Payment Policies
A wide range of billing cycles are available. However, no discounts are offered to customers who select an extended billing cycle, so most customers will probably opt for the monthly cycle.
Payment can be made in bitcoin, with PayPal, or with any major credit card.
A 30-day conditional money back guarantee is offered to new customers. The refund is only offered if a customer notifies JavaPipe of issues directly attributable to JavaPipe that have prompted the request for account cancellation and a refund. Domain name registration fees, dedicate server setup fees, and custom server configuration fees are excluded from the guarantee. In addition, the money-back period is limited to 3 days for DDoS protection customers.
Summary
JavaPipe offers scalable, high-performance hosting for Java applications and websites with powerful DDoS protection. JavaPipe is not a good fit for hosting customers looking to easily create a blog or a simple website, but JavaPipe seems like an ideal option for developers looking for a scalable, secure, and affordable hosting platform to deploy Java websites and web applications.

The Tomcat hosting is one of the best I’ve used. They offer private Tomcat containers which means I can run my Spring application with their shared hosting plans without issues. Other providers I tried don’t allow that and force you to get a full server.
I’ve been with Javapipe for 3 years and didn’t face any major issues. I can recommend this host to everyone looking to host his Java application.
