Martfox Web Hosting Introduction
Martfox is a mature hosting company providing a full range of services, from inexpensive LAMP-based shared hosting plans to VPS to dedicated servers. In addition to hosting, the company offers domain registration services and ecommerce solutions.
Services and Specializations
Martfox provides a comprehensive range of hosting services as well as CS Cart and Magento e-commerce solutions.
Affordable LAMP-based shared hosting plans are available in 4 different flavors, with rich features, including 5 to 15 GB storage space, 20 to 40 GB bandwidth, 1 to 3 domains, unlimited email and FTP accounts with an unlimited number of subdomains. The top shared hosting plan should be called “The Unlimited Plan,” because it offers all of the mentioned features, but without any limits aside from the standard “fair use” clause. All shared hosting plans offer a 14-day money back guarantee, cPanel, daily backups, and a 99.99% uptime guarantee. Windows shared hosting plans are not available.
Martfox has a rich VPS offering based on OpenVZ or Xen virtualization technologies. Three hosting plans based on OpenVZ are up for grabs, with the following features: 1 to 4 GB RAM, 40 to 160 GB storage space, 500 to 2500 GB bandwidth and 1 or 2 IP addresses. These VPS hosting plans run on Linux.
Three VPS hosting plans based on Xen are also available, with features like 1 to 4 GB RAM, 25 to 160 GB storage space, 1000 to 4000 GB bandwidth and 1 or 2 IP addresses. These VPS hosting plans support Linux or Windows operating systems.
All VPS plans use RAID 10 SSD storage and run on Dell 16 core Xeon server hardware, with free server management, nightly backups and a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Martfox’s dedicated server offer is extensive. The servers are based on Supermicro server hardware. Six different dedicated servers are available, with a choice of Linux or Windows operating systems. The entry level dedicated server is based on Intel’s Atom D525 CPU with 4 GB DDR3 RAM and 500 GB SATA2 HDD, while the top of the range server uses dual Intel Xeon E5-2620 CPUs with 16 GB DDR3 RAM and 2×500 GB SATA2 HDDs. Mid-range dedicated servers are based on various Intel CPUs, including desktop chips like the i3-2100 and i7-3820, and server processors such as the Xeon E3-1230v2 and Xeon E3-1275v2. All dedicated servers are fully managed and feature 10 TB bandwidth, full root and shell access, free server setup, and website transfer with a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Martfox hosting infrastructure
Martfox uses datacenters based in Los Angeles and Seattle in the USA and in Kent, UK. These datacenters are completely power redundant and use advanced fire suppression, HVAC, and security systems. They are monitored and maintained by on-site expert technicians 24/7.
We like the use of proven Dell and Supermicro server hardware, backed by a wide range of Intel CPUs.
Martfox uses a redundant load balancing network powered by Cisco routers and connected to multiple uplinks, providing for 99.9% network uptime.
Support and Customer Service
Martfox offers 24/7 support for its customers using an email ticketing system. Live chat support or phone support are not listed.
Summary
We like the rich features of the budget, entry level shared hosting plan, and the top unlimited plan is quite tempting too.
The choice of VPS servers is extensive, and not just in terms of hardware. You can choose between OpenVZ and Xen servers running Linux or Windows, which is nice. If you’re in the market for a dedicated server, there are plenty of options to choose from.
On the other hand, we would like to see more support options, namely phone support and live chat.
