I have been with Servint for 7 years since 2009 until recently I decided to make the switch to InMotion VPS. Until late 2014 Servint used to be the best in my opinon. But after that, their service started going bad. Very late response to tickets and then eventually they rolled out service @ $100 per month which is totally ridiculous. They also increased their VPS prices in an era where hosting prices are constantly going down.
;tldr = left them for service and price.
Servint.net hosting review. Servint.net sucks. Avoid Servint hosting. They used to be good. They’ve slid. Considerably. There was a time when you could get phone support, instant help and dependable hosting. That’s gone. Now you need to use a crazy ticket system and we’ve had lots of troubles. Billing, sales and tech support don’t communicate. They over billed us. Twice. Technically they are weak. One website had the mail server compromised. Another website was hacked and we noticed before they did. We used to run online contests on their servers for major retailers. Now we can’t. Six years ago they were reliable. Something changed. Avoid servint at all costs. There are so many better companies.
I really liked to work with them, but lately they changed their policy and they do not answer your phone call. If you need a restore an account it might take many hours until they complete the ticket. I need to find a more reliable hosting. I have around 10 dedicated servers with them for my clients
I have been with Servint for a few years now. I tried Google Compute account, Amazon and few others and decided to stay with Servint because of the way they provide support and maintain my servers. I don’t open tickets too often but when I do they respond quickly. Before I found Servint I had to maintain my servers by myself and it took time away from my programming, after I found Servint I was free from usual worries related to upgrades etc..
I am planning to rent more servers from Servint in a near future. In short, I cant say anything bad about them. They are doing their job and that is exactly what I need.
Beware, if you have any issues with them, they require 30 days cancellation. Their control panel is overwhelming, slow, and nightmare to try and get through. Documentation is really lacking, and there is no way to search it. It look me hours to try and get the server up just to run a basic wordpress site, and I’m a professional web developer. Finally jumped ship to another platform and got online in 30 minutes.
Support service was slow, especially the chat, and I needed the chat just to figure how to use their system because of bad documentation. I had to ask my questions several times in different ways to get the agent to understand.
Serious headache, and to top it off, the site was super slow once I got everything up and running.
Worth the 30-day penalty to cancel, even though I only used their service for about 5 hours, they refused to give me a refund.
I would recommend avoiding.
I’ve had great support until i started having problems with spam.
They tried a couple of thing with spamassassin and then gave up. I’m now bombarded by spam and have to pay a contractor to look into this.
They also left me on my own when had to move my mail services from my old host ( using webmin ) to them ( using cPanel ).
Really sad.
I now rate them 2 stars.
I’ve been with Servint for many years, and have always been really happy with their uptime, the quality of their support, and the support response time. However, I’m now heading into 18 hours with all my VPS’ websites down due to a “non-recoverable disk error”. Clients are extremely angry, to say the least. Some downtime is normal, but 18 hours is far longer than I expect from a quality host.
I had too much downtime at Bluehost VPS.
The uptime track record for several years of a friend using Servint for hosting made me finally decide to make the move.
Bluehost was about $10 a month less and had great support when I called in but the last outage for a full day was inexcusable after a prior downtime for nearly a day just 3~ months prior.
I can’t really say Servint is any “faster” loading pages, truthfully I see no difference in that regard.
The support personal at Servint are a bit harsh in comparison but they are super knowledgeable and sorted out a few DNS problems very quickly.
Price wise I would say Servint is competitive for basic VPS and 60 GB storage. I shopped quite a bit.
I would not hesitate to recommend Servint over Bluehost.
Been with these guys over 5 years, with both VPS and dedicated servers. They offer in my opinion the best value for dedicated or vps servers based on that they give you daily offsite backups which most like liquidweb charge extra for, and their support almost always gets on tickets in under 20 minutes.
Most of their support techs are of very high quality. I never feel I’m being outsourced to India for support.
I left a previous review on here during my time of crisis with Servint. I had made the choice to bite the bullet and move them to a new hosting company.
As I was about to do this I made one more call to their support expressing my dissatisfaction. The last entry in my support issue was handled by one of their problem managers, who seemed to have not read any of the previous trend of fiasco’s during the week long support call.
The person I got on the phone put me on hold to check. When he was back he sounded very embarrassed and was very apologetic. He told me he would personally take over the ticket and resolve this for me.
I decided to give them one final chance as I really did not want to move multiple websites. He managed to get me onto a proper engineer this time. He explained what the issue was and this time it made sense. He recommended a whole bunch of security changes to their firewall. Their servers are setup to work only from a small handful of static IP’s. They generally white list these.
Since in our case this is a mutl-office company spanning the whole of the USA, and the developers (us) are located in Australia, it was obvious this approach would not work. To cut a long and tired story short. He managed to resolve our issues by relaxing some of the firewall rules.
Email would not be as secure as what it was, but really there is no choice when it comes to usability vs security. A balance had to be struck, and I am fully satisfied with the outcome. I just wish they put this guy on my ticket from the beginning.
Aside from that one problem manager, they handles themselves professionally and remained polite, even when I had lost patience with them. Very cool cucumbers!
So if you see a previous review from me “dakka” please take this one into consideration also. I do recommend these guys, but be aware that for a multi-site company and foreign IT personnel, they need to adjust their firewall to handle this environment. Security is number 1 with these guys, but be sure to make them understand that white listing a zillion IP addresses is NOT the solution…lol.
Regards
Dakka
Recently i moved my blog from a well know webhosting company to ServIn on a “VPS Essential” package.
I was worried but thanks to the friendly support team who managed the transfer very well. Although online chat support is not available but the “Support Ticket” is much faster that i don’t care about the online chat support.
After comparing all the VPS hosting packages i only decided for ServInt because they are provided much more on the same pricing others are providing.
I am proud to be part of this family.
After reading all these reviews on here I decided to give Servint a go. It worked great for my test site.
Unfortunately when I tried to add several clients to the one server, I found out that they simply can not cope with several office locations accessing email.
They kept getting blocked. After a full week of support, the best they could offer was to keep adding IP addresses to a whitelist.
WHAT A JOKE!
If you intend to use this sever for more than one website, where there may be roaming IP’s like mobile devices, or dynamic IP’s. You will be stuck with getting blocked and forever getting IP’s added to a whitelist.
I have called, and raised tickets all to no avail. I am now left with the embarrassment of telling my client that I need to find a new hosting company. This is our largest client, and I feel I have made the worst mistake by using Servint. The amount of work I will need to do now to get their email addresses onto a new server is phenomenal. Oh man…why oh why don’t they tell you this stuff before you signup!
They still try and make me believe that they can support multiple locations and that the problem is from all my clients locations, and how they access email. I had my clients use webmail just to ensure it wasn’t them. Even that wouldnt work.
Anyways, this review is a warning to anyone that intends on using multiple websites for businesses. Don’t make the horrible mistake I have made. Worst part is I can’t even get my client to call them directly to get IP’s added, without giving them root access, and portal access for the ENTIRE server. So again this is only good for single websites.
I thought long and hard about writing this review, but after doing a quick search, and reading all of the fake reviews written by Servint representatives I had to chime in with my thoughts.
I was recommended to Servint by someone I respected who had referred clients to them in the past. That’s where the praise stops with this company.
If you are looking for educated, trained tech support then continue your search. Most of these guys resolve every problem by simply resetting apache every time you call in with a slow server, and getting someone to call you back is an absolute nightmare. If you ask to speak to a manager after literally weeks of the same recurring problem, the company pulls the classic let me see if I can get someone, then waiting 20 minutes on hold before being disconnected.
It boggles my mind how difficult it has become to find quality VPS hosting in this day and age, considering how large the internet has become. Servint is certainly bottom of the barrel from my experience, and their customer service is among the worst I have ever dealt with in any industry. The worst part is that no one seems to actual care what is going on with your business.
Steer clear of this company, it will save you a massive headache.
We have been using Servint for around three years now. The switch was probably the best decision because:
1) 100% uptime, never had to face any issues at all
2) They keep upgrading the vps packages from time to time at no extra cost
3) Their support is quick, helpful and resolution oriented.
4) We get the resources we were promised.
Will recommend Servint to anyone who needs a reliable yet affordable VPS package.
Earlier this year (2011), I moved to ServInt (after a terrible experience with MediaTemple; see my review on that). I am reluctant to write this review because I’m worried that everyone will jump over to them. This is a great host.
Here’s why I absolutely love its service: ServInt delivers the service it promises; it has consistent up time; its customer service is unparalleled; and the technical support is a breath of fresh air.
During the four months that I have been with them, they’ve suffered exactly one outage. Stuff happens. The site was restored within 40 minutes. This is the only outage I’ve suffered.
In April 2011, I launched another forum (BMWMafia.com). ServInt was awesome in helping me with some technical issues that cropped up during the set up process.
I’m now hosting two sites with ServInt. As my forum empire expands (hehe), I will continue to throw my business toward ServInt.
They’ve earned my business. As a result, I am happy to endorse ServInt’s service.
So after I’ve tried a lot of web hosters, most of them just have full wab pages full of features but they are all liars, until servint, they are a very respectable company and very good support, I had a problem with my website they helped a lot to solve the problem and they even gave me more ressources and never asked for more money, great up time, always making updates, daily and weeklu backups you will never lose your website wit them!
I wish I had known about the price of ‘Servint’ years ago, I could have saved a fortune!
Servint is a Hosting Co. that you can count on for help in a very professional manor. With a Host like Servint they are a perfect match for someone just starting out who needs to watch their spending and yet sophiticated enough to handle very large accounts who demand Excellence in Service.
I’ve always recommended Servint to my friends and to anyone else who is in need of a professional Web Host for the best price.
Warm Regards,
Roger Taylor
I have been hosting with serveint for more than 8 months now, I never had any downtime. Support Tickets are usually answered within 15-30 minutes and the issues are dealt accordingly.
Downtimes are visible within all hosts but servint’s downtime had been minimal. In my ratings they have 97.5 downtime per month.
The plan I have with them is an Enterprise Dedicated Server.
Servint Provides the Most reliable Web Hosting . I have been with them for 2 years now and these are the things that have really impressed me about their Quality Web hosting :
1) Superb Uptime ! – I’ve been with them for almost two years and I’ve had downtimes of only 20 minutes as reported by Many Uptime Checkers .
2) Alway up to the Mark Support . Servint Excels in this field ! They have one of the best sales support staff who are ready to help at all times.
3) Perfectly Hardened Servers with Best Security , and Completely free CPanel and WHM setup .
4) Most Reliable and trustworthy !
Servint have supplied me with an excellent service over the past few years, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new provider!
I host a few sites with Servint, including WhoIsHostingThis.com. Great support, I usually get a response within five minutes of submitting a ticket 24 hours/day.
I’ve been with ServInt for a total of 6 years. I was with them for 3, went away for a year to another host, then came back for another 3 years. ServInt used to be really good. They had excellent offerings based on the rest of the industry… and then 2014 / 2015 they really went to crap. Their offerings have increased in price, where you can now get better specs with better support for around 60% less price. They’re seriously detached from the industry in which they used to be a leader. I remember the day they sent me an email that they’re changing their support to a tiered structure, and basically, every single customer had to pay an additional $100 per month to get the level of support we were already used to getting.
Do the math! With the majority of hosts that now offer more specs, with full support, already 60% their pricing, making support an additional fee is like driving that nail right in with the hammers head. That put them at 80% more expensive that the majority of the industry for E5 CPU’s with SSD cloud infrastructure.
Just to put the boot in, I had paid a year in advance which gave a 10% discount. Having recently cancelled only half way through, they’ve closed my account from all contact, ignored all email sent, and so far failed to refund the difference in credit my account had, even though their sale rep told me (and have screenshot off) the refund of my account credit would happen on the server terminating after its 30 day period.
ServInt are doing irreparable damage to their brand. I have no idea what has gone on within that company, but it has really turned from hero to zero as a hosting solution.
I’m sorry — I’ve gone from someone who recommended them without a doubt, to now telling you to run for the hills and stay clear of ServInt. They’re terrible now, just terrible.
