SuperGreenHosting Introduction

SuperGreenHosting is a shared web hosting company owned by JustHost, who are in turn owned by Endurance International Group, a large internet services organisation that runs numerous other web hosting companies.

There is little information regarding when the service was founded, but since October 2011, JustHost became its new parent company.

Whilst the focus is on green web hosting, all of SuperGreenHosting’s plans are supplied through the JustHost site, as are their support services. We’ll run through the features of SuperGreenHosting, but please also refer to the JustHost review for more information.

SuperGreenHosting Hosting Plans

● SuperGreenHosting offers shared web hosting through JustHost. This provides unlimited hosting space, bandwidth and email accounts, and the ability to host unlimited domain names.
● Reseller hosting is available and is priced based on the amount of disk space and bandwidth you need. It allows for unlimited domains. Again, their hosting features are based on JustHost’s hosting plans.

Both hosting plans are based on Linux hosting, utilising customised Apache web server software.

SuperGreenHosting Uptime/Downtime

SuperGreenHosting does not make any claims about its uptime, other than it is ‘outstanding’. Their services are provided through JustHost who also give no indication of an uptime guarantee.

JustHost’s servers are located in Chicago and are monitored 24/7. However, there is little additional information regarding the JustHost data centre. The servers utilised for SuperGreenHosting customers are ‘green’ Dell servers and the company are involved in a tree planting project which neutralises their carbon footprint.

SuperGreenHosting Support

Again, SuperGreenHosting support is provided through JustHost, with access to 24/7 live chat, email and telephone services although, there is no information on where the support services are based.

There’s a JustHost help centre where you can raise support tickets and check the server status. You can also see video tutorials, access a knowledge base and getting started guides.

SuperGreenHosting in the News

Like JustHost, SuperGreenHosting has made little noise in the press, either good or bad. Although the company is discussed on user forums, I found no official news to back up those discussions.

SuperGreenHosting Control Panel

SuperGreenHosting customers are provided with cPanel to administer their web sites. This includes features such as DNS, nameservers, addons and more, as is standard for cPanel. Resellers get WHM on top of cPanel, which is used to manage separate hosting accounts for their customers.

SuperGreenHosting Extras

SuperGreenHosting provides a free domain name, website templates and a free website building tool for their customers. To sweeten the deal, customers also get free Google, Yahoo, Facebook and MySpace advertising credits.

SuperGreenHosting provides one-click installs of Joomla, WordPress, ecommerce tools, message boards and more. Customers are also provided with green buttons and icons to show that they buy their hosting from an eco-friendly hosting company.

SuperGreenHosting Money Back Guarantee / Cancellation Policy

Where many companies offer a normal 30 day money-back guarantee, SuperGreenHosting (and JustHost) offers an alternative. You can cancel your account at any time and receive a full refund for the months that you haven’t used.

You will be charged for the domain name, regardless of whether it was free or not. Other setup charges are exempt from the refund.

SuperGreenHosting Summary

SuperGreenHosting is a relatively standard shared hosting company with few features to make them still out above the rest. The close ties with JustHost are obvious and the company offer little more than their sister company.

The main selling point for SuperGreenHosting is its green credentials. Where many companies purchase green power credits, SuperGreenHosting are involved in tree planting to offset their carbon credits which is a nice initiative.

However, although you are purchasing green hosting, this host is essentially a part of JustHost (and Endurance International Group). JustHost does not appear to have the same green credentials, so SuperGreenHosting can just be considered the green ‘arm’ of a larger provider. It’s not clear whether the entire group of companies buys into the idea of green web hosting.
