I switched to WebHostingBuzz (WHB) from Hostgator almost a year ago. I did a lot of research, saw good reviews, liked what I saw, and the service to price. I got a reseller account as I have several client sites. Unfortunately, shortly after joining, my server experienced a DDOS attack, that brought my sites down for 6 or so hours. This happened again a few months later. And the this week once more. This time it was 10 hours of downtime, which was unfortunately preceeded by 6 more hours of downtime due to some other server problem they had.
This was coupled with poor updates on their server status log. (The issue was first reported as unusual behaviour requiring a server reboot – then the next update cam 9 HOURS later, reporting it had been DDOS). They rerouted the IP addresses twice as part of the latest resolution – but didn’t tell me they were doing it, nor what the new IPs were, until I chased for it.
Their support is at least fast to respond, and willing to give technical explanations for things. But the downtime became unacceptable for me and my clients.
I am now evaluating a Cloud VPS with SiteGround, and plan to migrate over from WHB before next billing cycle.
I was with WebhostingBuzz for about four days. I loaded WordPress but I had to ask Live chat to sort out the website not working situation. Then it worked for a few hours on Opera and Chrome and then stopped working. My website could be accessed only on Internet Explorer for a few hours, then failed. Went back to Chrome and Opera but no joy with them. For about three days, my website could only be accessed on IE, but only for about 25% of the time. When I asked for my money back, the instructions on what to do to transfer my domain name never reached me via email, and I only saw them courtesy of the Live Chat person. I followed the instructions and got some of my money back, but had to pay £15 to get my free domain name back. To transfer a domain name, it has to go through a third party, which is all tiresome. I could see it was unreliable after the first few hours and not worth persevering with
I’ve been with several hosts in the past; WebHostingBuzz, CWCS, BlueHost and SiteGround. WebHostingBuzz are by far the best host I have used in the 11 years of hosting websites. The support (even for the shared hosting plans) is quick, precise and friendly. The uptime is amazing and I have not experienced any downtime in the two years I have been with them (at least, not during peak times) which I have with other hosts like CWCS (Which guarantees 100% uptime).
I first went with WebHostingBuzz around 7 years ago and then moved to another host purely based on a more competitive price. I was happy with the server from WHB that I thought the new host would be the same or better but this was not the case. WHB have a great relationship with their clients through the forum and like asking their customers what they can do better.
The prices are reasonable and service is fantastic for the price. I would highly recommend them and do to my colleagues and friends.
I have been a WHB client since 1997 or so. Since that time I have seen a degradation of service. The uptime is boasted at 99% but this is not true. Recently they had a RAID server problem and lost their SQL db on a reseller machine. I was told that they do incremental backups (probably once a week) and I lost a weeks worth of work on one of my websites.
I find it difficult to believe that something went so wrong that I lost data on the hosting side of things. Redundancy??? Not so sure.
I’ll be looking at another hosting provider because this happens way too often.
WebHostingBuzz is how a host should be.
I’ve been using their basic shared hosting package for a year – for a small WordPress site with a few subdomains – and it bottoms down to a word: FLAWLESS.
I’ve yet to experience a downtime or any other kind of issue, which leads me to the reason I gave four stars to WHB support: SO FAR, I’VE HAD NO REASON AT ALL TO CONTACT THEIR SUPPORT, because there hasn’t been a single glitch on my websites.
I’m very happy to have gone with WHB; would I recommend this host to someone else? Yes; a big, definite yes.
I was overly pleased by WebHostingBuzz’s uptime and support.
They have a fantastic support team, and you get great value for what you pay for.
I would recommend WebHostingBuzz as a brilliant option for web-hosting needs, or even reseller, as I have.
I moved fsopen.co.uk to a whb shared business plan thinking I’d get a reasonable service. Uptime is important to me and they boasted 99.99% uptime with this service. Pre-sales conversations led me to believe I was making the right move.
How wrong I was, In the first month the server went down for some time. Maybe that was just unlucky but subsequently I suffered ongoing problems with network connectivity to them. They assured me this was my problem but as I have software used by 50 customers scattered around the globe it was quite easy for me to prove the problem was clearly at there end. Their support normally suggested I needed to upgrade to a pricier vps to fix my issues!
After about 6 months of ongoing connectivity issues I decided to move on and pay about a third of the price for a much better service in both terms of reliability and service.
Webhosting Buzz is the worst hosting company I’ve ever been with, customer support sucks bigtime, they don’t know what they’re doin,
if you go with WHB you are guaranteed 99.9% downtime or SUPER SLOW page loads…Worst Hosting company, never go with webhosting buzz
I have been with WHB for 6 years; in the beginning they were an excellent and reputable company, now I’m having a lot of problems nad will be finding a new host. We have had seven periods where our website was down in the past year including a week where our website (a small forum with about 30 members) was “too large and required too many connections” to Cpanel to run our free phpBB board.
I am incredibly dissapointed with where the service for this company has gone. In the early years, tech support was prompt, courteous, and correct. Recently, no matter what issue I’m having they’re trying to shove a private virtual server down my throat when our website is using less than 10% of the vast majority of the allotted resources we pay for. Tech support insists issues are on my side and after multiple days and attempts to communicate the specific issues, the various problems have inevitably been on their end with their settings and changes they made without notifying their users or considering the implications for the sites they host.
Right now (12-31-13 at noon CST) our web site is down and live chat support requests are not being accepted at this time. There is no communication when there will be maitenence, if this down-time is maitenence, or if there’s a genuine problem with my website. I have no idea if or when my website will be back. I’ve had to start making weekly backups of all of our files (including backing up a rather large database) because of how unreliable this host has become; I’m genuinely afraid of losing our content.
I will be finding a new host as soon as possible. I emphatically do NOT recommend this host.
On three occasions I have been a Webhostingbuzz customer. This last time is proving to be a challenge. I notice that they have cut down considerably on the scripts available on their C-panel since I last used the service in 2008. I have had numerous technical problems including provisioning problems but usually the chat support has taken care of them in short order. However I notice a tendency of support to try to convince the customer that the problems must be with the customer’s FTP yet it always turns out that if you preserver the problem is on the WHB side.
I am likely to make a change as a result of my last episode. I asked the chat support the procedure and they informed me that even though they have not resolved an ongoing technical issue for 3 days running now and I have no access to any of my reseller bloc and need to move all my sites that they would need to charge me $12.00 to transfer my main domain name. I have purchased all except for the initial domain name from namecheap, through them (the price goes up from around $5.00 to $11.00 when you use them but I used them anyway) yet they want to charge me the full price to transfer despite the fact that it will be because of their inability to provide the service that I transfer. $12.00 is not a huge deal but it’s just the unmitigated gall of the thing.
In short, their hosting is inexpensive but be prepared to spend a good amount of your time arguing to have problems resolved if you go with WHB.
I am running a small business and have a website where I advertise my services and was looking for a cheap yet reliable host for it. I chose WebHostingBuzz over other hosts because of their affordable prices back in 2010 and I have never regretted my choice since then.
I am not very tech savvy and was looking for something easy to use that does not require much time to learn my way around the service. I was given access to the control panel and it had tools to help me build my website, to my surprize, it was fairly easy to understand and with some help i managed it pretty fast. I also love the live support they offer, you just hit the button on the site and it gets you through to an assistant. The support was always quick, friendly and super patient with me. I really cannot remember any case when I had to wait on the line for too long, or when my questions were not answered.
To sum it up, WebHostingBuzz is a great company to deal with, I would definitely recommend it to others.
PROS:
*Good technical support
*You can choose a US or UK based hosting (choose what’s closer to you or your potential visitors)
*Good uptime (about a 20 downtimes in 4 years (most of them on WHB US based servers) from my personal experience – longest was a few days, average – few hours or less)
*Really, a LOTS of features (Cron Jobs, SSL, Dedicated IP, Private NS, Free Domain name, CPanel, Archive support in File manager, PEAR support ,etc)
*You can request to move your website on a different server, if you are experiencing some serious issues with your website or if you “sniff” that there is something not good with the server that’s hosting your website.
*You can ask them for some extra time to make a payment, if you can’t get money for that in time.
CONS:
*US based hosting has lot more problems than UK hosting. When i switched to a UK hosting, my website was more stable than before.
*Sometimes you have to struggle with their support team, just because they think that problem is from your side, but in fact it isn’t.
*You actually need to follow their blog & forums to stay notified about scheduled updates of their server software (PHP, MYSQL etc), because if you don’t, you can end up one day with a non-working website. This is from my personal experience, when they recently changed a PHP version, and my website was totally messed up after that. Fortunately they managed to revert this after i submitted a support ticket.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I think they are doing good, and the price is adequate for a quality of their services.
However as a client, you need to actually cooperate and work with them, to get the best service. You can’t just come with your big website, set it up and forget about it. Also you can’t expect from them a 100% uptime all the time. Eventually some of their servers can go down for a hour or two, but that happens only once in a two months or so.
From my experience, this is the best hosting team, i’ve ever worked with, and i still haven’t found anything better than WHB. They have their problems, but their competitors apparently have more. Their support team is competent and they know what they are doing.
Yes – and if you plan to host some super-important website, which will cause deadly consequences, in case if it goes down, this hosting is not for you. Just don’t do it – instead open your own private datacenter, buy couple of servers and spare parts, hire an IT admin, and you are on the right path.
OK! I have been with WebHostingBuzz for over six (6) years, with a reseller D, account. We have had our ups, and downs, in that time frame. In 2008, I asked about private name servers, there response was encouraging, but, when this toke place, all, websites, cPanels, and e-mail accounts went down, and/or off line. This went on for three (3) days. The support team seemed to not understand what the problem was, after the third day, I requested everything be put back the way it was. This toke one (1) more day. I had requested some kind of credit for the down time, no response, from billing, or support, (never was credited for the down time).
Then in 2010, they encouraged me to go with the private name server, I question, about what had happened in 2008. I was told this would not happen again. I liked the idea. Well, needless to say, once again everything went off line. This time it was for five (5) days. I need to note, that I did have a small customer base, of four (4). I had to reimburse two (2) customers for there down time. Because of losing customers, and sales, it cost me, a little under, $3000.00. I was never compensated, for this loss, by WHB. Needless to say, I lost what customers I had. Again, (never was credited for the down time).
Now, once again, the private name servers have come into the picture, (you would think I learned my lesson), put I have not. This started on 08/05/2013, by 08/06/2013, I have lost e-mail service on one (1) account. Now, I do want to note, this down time does not affect the main account, just the accounts under it. To date, this is on going, with no resolution in site, and I am being told, the private name server has nothing to do with this problem, and/or ticket. Which there where no problems before hand.
For what I think of the WHBSupport team, I think at times they have no idea of what they are doing, they want to say there is a problem with what the customer is doing, or not doing. I have on several occasions, have the browser time out, when loading my website, or blog. I did the norm of opening a support ticket, about this happening. I was taken to a website that shows where, your website goes, time to load pages, and time to send, and receive pings. Of course this was showing there was no problems. Then I found a website that would show about the same thing, only the facts where reversed, it could not do any sending, or receiving pings, it kept timing out, with error messages, stating why the time out had taken place. I toke a screenshot, and submitted it in the open ticket. The next day I was being told that it was my ISP, and tell them of this problem. My ISP, said there was not anything wrong with the service being provided to me. They also asked, is this happening else where, no, only when loading my website, or blog. To make a long story short this went on for a month, then overnight it stopped. Then some time later, I run across a review stating they had gone through the same thing.
If I can say anything good about WHB, is, I have learned, a lot, from the problems at hand with them.
At this point, would I recommend WebHostingBuzz, I am sorry to said NO. If you go with them, good luck. Keep in mind, my time with them, and this is how I got treated. Am I staying with WHB, sorry to say, NO. My contract is up in four (4) months.
Please note, I have all support tickets, to backup what is stated here in, – one (1), which disappeared from the list. and I had to open a new support ticket with the on going issue.
not happy with this company. Just transfered my accounts to them… server already twice down 🙁 email bounce back because the server has a bad reputation… not worht..
webhosting buzz is just awesome and perfect hosying site i have ever seen.
easy to operate site, and keep files secure.
I’ve been with them for over four years and although their web hosting plans have great value, they have had spotty support over the years. When requesting features, some of the customer support didn’t know a lot of terminology (SQL, PHP, etc.) and it would always take a few e-mails before they had to “upgrade the ticket to level 2”; for simple questions, it shouldn’t take 6 back and forth e-mails. Their support has always been my issue with them, sometimes it’s fast, sometimes it’s slow – overall inconsistent, and the people answering me always seem to have little to no experience.
At one point, they suspended my account for 3-4 months because of bandwidth issues.Fair enough, I tried multiple times to log-in to fix it, but I could not even log-in. I kept inquiring as to why I couldn’t log-in/why they kept asking me to fix it when I could not even log-in! It was always a different rep replying with the same response; like they couldn’t see previous e-mails or something, because I kept telling them I can’t fix anything if I can’t log-in. I asked if they would pro-rate my plan which sounded like a reasonable request, but no. Poor service, money-hungry company that does not care about customers or their loyalty.
They have all the standard features and their support is rock solid. I had my wordpress blog installed via Softaculous they offer. Accidentally I had deleted the blog. I emailed their support and within 15 minutes they restored it from a backup. These guys are good and I recommend them to all.
I have found my time so far with webhostingbuzz to be very good, and satisfying. I find the speed of the servers very helpful, always keeping my website online. I currently run a Hosting business and all are kept online perfectly, which makes me very happy.
My experience with WebHostingBuzz has been awesome so far, and here is why. First let me back up a bit – I have been a web designer and developer for quite some time now – and I have dealt with (personally or via a client of mine) almost every web host out there. I’ve had good experiences and I’ve had bad experiences, as with anything – but I can honestly say that my experience with WebHostingBuzz has been one of the best ones I have ever had. I have hosted with GoDaddy (HAHAHA), HostGator, 1&1, BlueHost, MediaTemple, & inmotion just to name a few (very few, there are a lot out there, but these are a few of the larger ones) and I always had some little or big problem with each of them. I have been with WebHostingBuzz for almost a year now and I have had hardly any issues, and whatever issue arose they quickly and swiftly made it go away. An example would be when I first moved my site there, my site was hacked (not their fault) – but they quickly restored everything and made sure it didn’t happen again and worked with me on security enhancements. That showed me that they really cared, and that was refreshing – most hosts are like “Yeah well we can’t really help you”. I do have to say that I am a server admin as well, so I haven’t had to use support THAT much, but when I have they were really helpful and quick to respond. Another thing that I noticed was different about WebHostingBuzz is that my uptime, for the first time – has actually been 100% most months – that is insane. Most of the time on other hosts, I had probably around a 97% uptime – with maybe an hour or so of downtime each month – while that is good, 100% is great, and thats what I am averaging with WebHostingBuzz. Another first, is that people actually complemented me on my sites loading speed – while some of that can be credited to my coding – most of it is really them, their servers are kicking butt. My site started out small of course years ago, but over the years it grew (which lead me to moving host to host to find one that could support its growth) and now that i’ve got a pretty nice traffic stream – WebHostingBuzz does a great job at keeping me on track to keep growing (and stay up!). So I just wanted to say thanks to the team at WebHostingBuzz for creating a good product, and caring about it enough to care about what they are giving their customers. Really great hosting company – 10/10 would recommend again. Another thing I would like to mention to those out there looking for a new host is that while no one can really tell you who the perfect web host will be for your needs – give it a try, I can tell you that I have tried a lot of them, and for what you pay for and what you get, I believe WebHostingBuzz is one of the best!
WebhostingBuzz has been a great hosting company to work with. Their response to support inquiries is extremely fast (almost always less than an hour and closer to a half hour) and the responses are very thorough yet not overly technical. The servers themselves are extremely fast. My last host (who I was with for close to 10 years) was extremely slow in comparison. I’ve shopped around the prices on the shared, shared reseller and the VPS plans and I haven’t seen anyone that comes close on any of these. Don’t hesitate to host with them at all!
Support was real great helping me get new ip addresses added to my Windows dedicated server. Also the dedicated server was bare boned! Love it, not all that crap software all it like other hosts…
I’ve been a long-term customer and love their support, speedy response times and uptime! Oh, and their pricing is pretty great too considering what you get.
Webhosting buzz is not so great because I had cancelled my subscription back in 2007 and in 2011 decided to auto renew my services. They charged my card that they kept on file. So after 3 years they just decided to charge me again for services I have never asked for or used.
Other than that the service was good while I had used it. I just dont like the fact that they decided to try and charge me again or that they kept my card on file after I had closed my account
So far, I’m enjoying my VPS silver account with WebHostingBuzz. I’ve had several hosting servers but this one tops it all. The customer support handles my questions very well. I have never experienced any down time and WordPress database errors. If you are looking for a reliable web hosting server, I would recommend WebHostingBuzz.
WebhostingBuzz has been my host of 4 years, each one of them great and reliable. One time, they even got their tech to install a Perl package I needed on my shared server! Talk about customer service! While their ticket system hasn’t been the best in my opinion, their Live Chat always has been great. Since I only run small, low-traffic websites, I cannot vouch for their quality at the higher levels, although I expect it only gets better. This host is great for small websites that just need to… work.. for cheap. I would most certainly recommend WHB to any friends who need a host, and in fact, I was referred by a friend of my own!
I bought a hosting with a dedicated IP for 2 years. I got 4 domains for free.
That’s a great deal.
The saddest part is that, their servers are down for long times. This happened to me 3 times.
All the 3 times, their servers were down for 20-24 hours.
And once, it took 2 days for them to restore.
But they are always available for support.
They act really very fast to all our queries.
Their support is really their USP.
They help any kind of users, irrespective of their technical knowledge.
WHB is suitable mostly for bloggers like me. Casual blogging. Any serious start ups are not advised to use their hosting. Of course, I haven’t tried their dedicated hosting, but the Gold Hosting that I use is “OK” and definitely can be a lot better.
I am afraid I cannot recommend it to friends. But if you are casual about your blog/site, then may be you can give it a try.
In my 17 years of reselling, this is the least reliable company I’ve ever used. I have lost clients that have been with me for many years because of my decision to switch to this company. I have dozens of websites and only the ones hosting on webhostingbuzz goes down so often. Sometimes they are down for several days. At least once per month I am getting customer complaints and it’s not only embarrassing but also detrimental to any business. I have lived to regret my choice and I really hope this review saves someone from making the same mistake. Although customer service replies very quickly no matter what time, day or night, solutions are addressed very slowly and excuses are vague at best not very genuine.
